Guidance Theme for the 2008/09 School Year
The PES Guidance Department is for parents and students alike, so please feel free to call if we can help you in any way. As counselors, we work with students both individually and in groups.
-
Individual counseling is available to all students. It is based on the referral process. Counseling for a student may be requested by the student him/herself, a teacher, an administrator, and/or a parent. The counseling referral may be requested because of educational, social, or personal problems.
-
Group counseling is conducted in individual classrooms. This is referred to as classroom guidance, which is an educational curriculum based on preventive measures. It addresses issues such as personal safety, peer pressure, discrimination, positive study habits, careers, and various other subjects. Classroom guidance is for all students and is scheduled once a month.
We hope to continue the “Counselor’s Corner” section in the PES Newsletter. Please look for it so you can be informed of the activities taking place in the Guidance Department. You will also find information about the monthly classroom guidance topics. Please ask your child about it, and ask him/her to share what they have learned with you.
We look forward to working with you and your children. We welcome your suggestions and comments, and please call us if we can help you in any way – 2008/09 is going to be a great year at Pepperell Elementary School! Remember, if we all work together, we CAN make a difference – thank you!
